// What this project is

The brief

Delhi University students hunt for study material across scattered WhatsApp groups, random Google Drive links, and outdated blogs — notes for one semester here, previous year questions there, admission guidance nowhere. There was no single trusted destination organizing DU academic resources by course, semester, and subject, and no clean way for a student-run team to publish updates fast during high-pressure windows like admissions and exam season.

// How I helped

What I built & delivered

  • WordPress Development · Custom Theme Design · Content Architecture · SEO · AdSense Monetization · Newsletter Integration · Performance Optimization

I built NotesBhandar as a fast, mobile-first WordPress platform with a custom theme, structured so every resource type has a clear home: handwritten notes by subject and semester, a full previous-year-questions library across all DU courses, DU admission and exam-form assistance, assignment help, and a dedicated section for Deshbandhu College students. The content architecture (categories, subcategories, internal linking) is designed for SEO — students land directly on the exact semester page they searched for. The site is monetized via Google AdSense and grows its returning audience through an email newsletter, so free resources stay free.

// The process

Step by step

  1. 1

    Research — mapped what DU students actually search during admission and exam cycles (notes, PYQs, date sheets, preference filling) and structured the sitemap around those queries.

  2. 2

    Design & build — developed a lightweight custom WordPress theme optimized for reading on budget phones, with fast load times despite heavy media and download links.

  3. 3

    Content system — set up a category architecture and editorial workflow so the student team publishes time-sensitive updates (admissions live, date sheets) in minutes without touching code.

  4. 4

    Growth — layered on SEO fundamentals, AdSense via Site Kit, and Mailchimp newsletter capture; iterated on popular pages to climb rankings for DU-specific keywords.

"During DU admissions week, everything students need is finally in one place — and the platform Prateek built lets our team publish updates the moment news drops."
